Job Description:
The Safety Representative I is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and executing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities for the Gas Operations Division. This role supports training, compliance, incident prevention, and field safety execution across active work sites.Reporting to the Regional Safety Manager, this position operates as a key safety partner to operations, requiring strong field presence and the ability to influence safe work practices in dynamic environments.Key Responsibilities:Field & Operational SafetyPromote and reinforce a culture that delivers safe workers and safe workplacesConduct documented jobsite inspections to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal regulationsSupport and guide field operations in executing safe work practices and job briefingsIdentify hazards and recommend practical, field-driven corrective actionsIntegrate HSE into daily operations and work planning activitiesIncident Prevention & InvestigationSupport and lead incident prevention initiativesAssist with and/or lead incident and injury investigations, including:Fact-finding and root cause analysisCorrective action development and trackingAssist in injury/illness case managementTraining & Workforce DevelopmentConduct safety orientation and training in a timely, professional mannerDeliver quality presentations with confidence and effectively in large group settingsReinforce safety expectations through field engagement and coachingAdministrative & ComplianceMaintain and support safety documentation and recordkeeping, including training certificationsEnsure compliance with:OSHA and DOT regulationsCompany policies and client requirementsTrack and support corrective actions, audits, and training recordsPrioritize internal and external customer service in all safety interactionsQualifications RequiredHigh School Diploma or GED required2-5+ years of safety experience in construction, utility, or industrial environmentsWorking knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulationsExperience supporting:Jobsite inspections and auditsIncident investigationsSafety training and orientationsStrong communication and public speaking skillsInterpersonal and problem-solving abilitiesTime management and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesExcellent follow-up and time management skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and Google WorkspaceValid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standardsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentWillingness to travel up to 80% within Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Bronx areas.PreferredAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in:Occupational Safety & HealthEnvironmental Health & SafetyConstruction Management or related fieldOSHA 30 (preferred) or other recognized safety certificationsExperience in urban work environments (traffic and pedestrian control)Familiarity with utility operations, civil construction, or gas construction
