The Role The Manager of Production Engineering will lead a team of Production Engineers in overseeing the monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting of high-volume manufacturing processes while emphasizing safety, environmental responsibility, and cost-effectiveness. This role also requires hands-on engagement, overseeing specific processes for quality and performance, implementing process improvements, and driving quality and safety initiatives. Job Description Key responsibilities for this role include: Ensure production engineering is conducted per established procedures, prioritizing safety and quality. Manage staffing levels and adjust schedules as needed for timely execution of engineering and production plans. Collaborate with the Capital and Engineering Manager on safety, quality, and HR policy issues. Monitor employee performance, providing constructive feedback, including disciplinary action when necessary. Mentorship of junior engineers for technical and professional development. Keep management updated on work status and compile related reports promptly. Update and review Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs) and Control Plans as per Plant policy. Monitor daily production for high-volume manufacturing processes. Document standard operating procedures for key processes/products, validate batch records and SQL documentation. Support the commissioning and qualification of new or replacement systems. Engage in environmental, safety, health, and quality department programs and requirements. Conduct hazard assessments, including Process Hazard Analyses and Risk Assessments. Analyze statistical process control performance and investigations on quality trend reviews. Investigate nonconforming materials and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. Generate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Prepare Management of Change (MOC) records as necessary. Provide expertise in solving a variety of technical problems. Plan and execute plant improvement projects while assisting the production engineering team in maintaining communication with partners and stakeholders. Participate in customer meetings and audits, addressing customer complaints using 8D formats where necessary. Conduct trend reviews for process operations and quality analysis. Review lab data to ensure compliance with trend rules before batch release. Maintain constant alertness and work safely. Perform additional duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. 1-2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred but not mandatory. 6-8 years of experience in high-volume chemical manufacturing; experience in automation, chemical, or semiconductor manufacturing will be highly regarded. Demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills within the academic or professional setting. Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analyses. Ability to cultivate strong relationships across functions and influence decisions at all organizational levels. Strong understanding of creating and interpreting P&IDs and design documentation. Preferred experience with industrial process control systems. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with diverse technical teams. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software such as JMP. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and data analysis methods is essential. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Commitment to safety policies and procedures. Able to work well within a team environment. Availability to fulfill on-call requirements as production needs dictate. PAY RANGE: The estimated pay range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 per year, with actual salary depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
