Estimator - Commercial Construction Our client is a mid-sized, family-owned general contractor with roughly 45 employees, completing $65-70M in annual work. They operate out of Portland, Maine, with projects typically within an hour of the office, and maintain a down-to-earth, lifestyle-friendly culture that prioritizes teamwork, normal work hours (7:30-4:00), and a supportive environment. Their work spans everything from municipal buildings to medical, federal, commercial, cultural, and ground-up construction-including a fish hatchery, a coroner's office, clinics, museums, and a variety of renovations and fit-outs. Job Description Prepare detailed estimates for projects ranging from small interior fit-outs to $30M ground-up construction. Review drawings, specs, inclusions/exclusions, and participate in networking and bid meetings. Collaborate closely with APMs to solicit subcontractor bids and ensure complete bid coverage. Report to both Project Managers and ownership as part of a cohesive, team-centric structure. Perform quantity takeoffs and maintain accuracy across all estimate components. Build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships. Assist in project handoff and early construction coordination when needed. The Successful Applicant A successful Estimator - Commercial Construction should have: 5+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction. Strong ability to read plans/specs and manage bid scopes, inclusions, and exclusions. Proficiency in Bluebeam, Timberline, and standard construction software. Comfortable making phone calls, attending industry events, and being the face of the estimating team. Broad project experience (ground-up + renovation) preferred. Must be commutable to Freeport, ME, and open to being in-office 5 days/week. What's on Offer Compensation: $95K-$150K base salary, depending on experience. Company truck, gas card, credit card.
