Job Description:
Lead Environmental Project Manager WSP is currently seeking a Lead Environmental Project Manager to join the team in our Portland, ME office, supporting a diverse portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects. The successful candidate will support management of public and private sector environmental projects primarily in the northeast. This is a growth-oriented position for aspiring project managers with a goal of independently managing projects within 18 to 24 months. As a Lead Environmental Project Manager you will assist assigned Project Managers in directing project execution, advising on technical direction, interfacing with Clients and stakeholders, and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget. Specific responsibilities of this role include: Anticipating Project Manager and Client needs to ensure smooth and high-quality project delivery. Monitoring project costs, risks, and schedule to support the Project Manager with meeting projects objectives. Participating in internal management briefings on project statuses. Assisting Project Managers in the preparation of monthly reporting and billing to customers and timely payment collection. Pre-project task planning, scheduling, and resourcing. Managing procurement strategy for subcontracted scope elements and working with Task Leads to manage subcontractor performance. Solving complex technical and logistical challenges with project execution. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary project team members to address client goals and objectives. Ensuring quality of project deliverables. Participating in proposal efforts. Required Qualifications BS or MS in Engineering, Geology or Environmental Science 7 to 10 years task management or assistant project management experience with a focus on environmental investigations and remediation, including coordinating subcontractors Registered Professional Engineer, Licensed Geologist, Project Management Professional or equivalent credential preferred Self-motivated problem solver with high attention to detail Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills Ability to interact with clients and stakeholders in a professional and ethical manner Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team Must have a driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Ability and willingness to travel to project sites (20% travel anticipated).
