ATR Details Position Details Search Number PJ # 7362 Title Sustainability Coordinator Category Professional Department Facilities, Maint. & Operations About The Position: This position will be responsible for assisting campus leadership in advancing sustainability initiatives and fostering a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, staff, and visitors, while building a campus sustainability network to enhance awareness, engagement, and implementation. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a wide range of campus constituencies to develop and advance campus sustainability plans. Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities & Operations, this role supports both short- and long-term sustainability goals, promotes accountability, and tracks, evaluates and reports on progress toward campus-wide outcomes. The development and implementation of decarbonization and energy-saving initiatives and assisting with sustainability plans and actions, including the SUNY Climate and Sustainability Action Plan and applicable state requirements, is also included. The successful candidate will assist with sustainability outreach and engagement initiatives, including speaker series, sustainability fairs and summits, lectures, swaps, clean-up and planting events, service projects, and partnerships with community organizations. This role will also facilitate student participation in workforce development programs such as the SUNY Climate Corps and Empire State Service Corps internships; collaborate to identify and secure grant funding and partnerships; and support the integration of sustainability into curricula, service-learning, public programming, and campus-as-a-living-lab initiatives. This position is housed within the Facilities, Maintenance and Operations area which is dedicated to providing comprehensive, campus-wide planning, construction, maintenance and improvement services to all campus facilities and grounds. As part of the Administration & Finance division, they provide essential services to our campus, local, state, federal and international customers. They are responsible for human, physical, financial, and technical resources and navigate systems in a collaborative and sensitive way to assist the University in achieving its educational mission. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business or a related field Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new software as necessary Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete multiple work assignments with frequent interruptions Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with people from diverse backgrounds Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year minimum experience in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business, project management, or a related field Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and strong leadership, budget management, and team-building skills Proven experience in sustainability reporting and project management Demonstrated ability to align individual program objectives with broader office, departmental, campus-wide, and SUNY System-wide goals and priorities Salary (Applicant View) $57,151 minimum, plus excellent benefitsAbout Our UniversitySUNY Plattsburgh, home of the Cardinals, is part of the largest comprehensive university system in the United States.
