Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) - Grade 12Monday - Friday: 7:00am to 3:00pmWhat You'll Do:As a Lead Caregiver you will supports a high-quality Early Childhood classroom by overseeing daily operations, guiding curriculum planning, and fostering a safe, nurturing learning environment. This role works closely with staff, children, and families to support child development and ensure all licensing and agency standards are met.Job Summary: Acts as Head of Group for the assigned classroom. Oversees the planning and implementing of Early Childhood classroom activities utilizing a team approach. Acts as a resource support to the other classroom staff.Oversees the daily operations of the classroom. Supervise and monitor to ensure a safe, healthy and supportive environment for children ages 12 months to 24 months.Adheres to and maintains the classroom according to OCFS licensing regulations and OCO policy and procedures.Takes a leadership role in weekly planning and implementation of Early Childhood Curriculum that allows children to learn and explore as appropriate for 12 month to 24 month age development.Maintains open on-going communication with parents/guardians including daily written communication regarding child development, classroom information and daily care of each child's day.Records observations and completes assessments on each child twice a year. Results are shared with parents.Ensures materials are prepared for each day's classroom activities. Classroom materials are rotated based on children's development, interest and growth.Develop and implement a daily schedule and routine to ensure that children have appropriate time for physical activity both indoors and outdoors, rest, and mealtimes.Ensures routine paperwork such as daily health checks, attendance records, meal counts, Incident reports and child daily sheets are completed. Any concerns are reported to the Center Manager.Works as a team leader to keep building equipment, both indoors and out, clean and in good condition. Any problems are communicated with the Center Manager.Ensures recommendations or directives from the Center Manager are implemented.Participates in required professional development trainings and meetings.Performs other related duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Must have the desire and ability to work with all children and their families.Must have good leadership and is able to work well in a team-teaching environment.Must be able to work with others in a warm, non-judgmental manner, have professional behavior and be a positive role model to others.Must exhibit good decision-making skills and be able to maintain confidentiality.Must have good written and oral communication skills.Must have the ability both mentally and physically to carry out the responsibilities of the position including lifting children and materials up to 30 pounds, bending, stooping and sitting on the floor with children.Must complete and maintain required minimum of 30 hours of training in specific topic areas every two years.Must complete and maintain infant/toddler CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Training (MAT).Must have access to reliable transportation to work, training and meetings, preferably possess a valid NYS Driver's License with points within Agency policy limits.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must meet one of the following:Associate's Degree in Early Childhood and one year experience related to caring for infants and toddlers; orInfant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and two years' experience caring for children, one of which must be related to caring for infants or toddlers.
