The Opportunity The Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Audit Executive at UCHealth is a key leadership figure responsible for ensuring that all operations align with the highest standards of regulatory compliance and ethical conduct. As part of the senior leadership team, the CCO/CAE will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive compliance and internal audit programs that uphold UCHealth's commitment to integrity and excellence. This leader will establish policies and procedures that cultivate ethical practices and a culture of compliance across the organization. Acting as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, the CCO/CAE will also manage responses to audits, investigations, and inquiries to mitigate legal and regulatory risks. By overseeing compliance and audit activities, the CCO/CAE ensures that UCHealth achieves its performance and quality control objectives while staying informed about healthcare compliance developments to recommend efficient solutions that support the organization's core values. Reports to: This position reports functionally to the Board's Audit and Compliance Committees and administratively to the UCHealth Chief Legal Officer and Chief Financial Officer. The CCO and Audit Executive maintain independent reporting lines to ensure oversight integrity. This position is onsite and does not offer a remote or hybrid work option. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor UCHealth's compliance program ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations. Establish and oversee policies and procedures that promote ethical practices and a culture of compliance. Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, coordinating responses to audits and investigations. Design and deliver compliance training for staff to ensure understanding of roles and reporting mechanisms. Lead investigations into compliance violations and coordinate necessary corrective actions. Contribute to the development of organizational vision, policies, and objectives as a leadership team member. Direct compliance and audit activities to meet performance and quality control objectives. Stay updated on compliance and audit developments affecting healthcare organizations, offering cost-effective solutions. Develop and execute a risk-based internal audit plan aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Assess internal controls, risk management, and governance processes for operational effectiveness. Present significant findings and recommendations to executive leadership and track remediation progress. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of compliance and audit professionals in an ethical work environment. Qualifications Advanced degree in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, law, or related field required. Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, internal audit, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Deep knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, CMS requirements). Proven ability to lead investigations, manage complex compliance and audit programs, and drive organizational change. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Compensation: $346,029 - $519,022 annual base salary; pay depends on relevant experience.
