Are you a highly skilled and experienced utility locator with a knack for leadership? Do you thrive in a role where you can guide a team, ensure safety, and solve complex problems in the field? We're looking for a Locating Supervisor to oversee operations in the Northwest / North Central corridor of Minnesota. This is a field-based role, and candidates should be centrally located within the service area-ideally near Detroit Lakes, Perham, Wadena, or Park Rapids-to allow for efficient travel across the region.In this role, you'll be the linchpin of our locating operations, responsible for leading a team, ensuring their safety and success, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. What You'll Do Lead with Safety First: Actively participate in safety talks and training. You'll ensure all team members follow safety policies and practices, and that all vehicles and equipment are well-maintained.Mentor Your Team: Provide professional leadership and direction to your direct reports. This includes setting goals, conducting regular one-on-one feedback sessions, and identifying training needs to help your team grow.Manage Operations: Handle the full scope of operational duties, from staffing and scheduling to reviewing the quality of locates and managing local inventory. You'll also be an active participant in the hiring process for new locators.Act as a Problem-Solver: Investigate facility damages, communicate with all affected parties. You'll be the go-to person for troubleshooting and providing solutions in the field.Build Relationships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with contractors, excavators, and customers, ensuring excellent communication and customer service. What We're Looking For A high school diploma or equivalent experience5 years of demonstrated experience locating underground utilities2 years of experience in a leadership role, whether formal or informalExperience training new employees and completing damage investigationA valid Class D Driver's license with a strong driving record that meets company policyAdvanced knowledge of underground utility construction, locator theory, and 811 laws and regulationsExcellent skills in prioritizing, organizing, and problem-solving, with a keen eye for detailStrong map-reading and GPS skills, along with solid computer operation skillsThe ability to teach others, remain calm in stressful situations, and communicate professionally with everyone you interact withA positive, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindsetAn Associate's degree (2-year degree) in a technical field or business management, or equivalent experience is preferred. This position is compensated with a salary range of $66,500 - $79,000.
