Job Description:
This position is responsible for activities related to communicable disease surveillance and reporting as well as epidemiologic data collection and assessment core functions that inform the Epidemiologist in Peoria County. Under direction of the Epidemiologist, will be responsible to perform a variety of professional tasks related to the identification, investigation, and data assessment of communicable diseases and other health priorities in Peoria County Requires a Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences, Physical Science, Public Health, Nursing or closely related field. Pertinent professional experience in the public health field may be substituted for the above educational requirement on a scale of 2 years' experience equals 1 year of education OR Registered Professional Nurse (RN) with 3 years of Public Health experience. Two (2) years' experience in the public health field is preferred. Must complete certification from IDPH for STD Employee Development Guide, HIV Counseling and Testing, and HIV/STD Client Centered Prevention Counseling Workshop within 1 year of employment. Must possess excellent professional judgment and critical thinking skills. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and ability to utilize computers and related technology efficiently, including but not limited to Windows based operating systems; Microsoft Office software such as Word, Outlook, and Excel; Presentation software such as PowerPoint and Canva; program specific software as necessary. Familiarity with collaboration software such as SharePoint preferred. Must have a valid Illinois Drivers License, proof of auto accident liability insurance and access to reliable transportation.
