Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist Job Description The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. This role involves working within various departments, determining the acceptability of specimens, and performing both routine and complex technical procedures according to established protocols. Responsibilities * Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. * Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. * Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. * Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. * Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls. * Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. * Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. * Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. * Assist with the processing of specimens when needed. * Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Essential Skills * Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology. * 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience. * State Medical Technologist license may be required. * ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required based on location. * Ability to work independently and within a team environment. * Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems. * High level of attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills. * Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Generalist experience in all areas is preferred, with a preference for Chemistry experience. * Comfortable working on their feet in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to be on your feet for extended periods. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs is required. Proper personal protective equipment must be worn to maintain safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pensacola, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
