The Senior Director will be responsible for the design, safety evaluation, execution, and medical monitoring of Phase 1 through Phase 3 clinical trials. As a leader in a nimble, high-growth environment, this role will bridge the gap between high-level clinical strategy and the hands on medical oversight required to deliver successful regulatory submissions.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Science & Trial Design OversightServe as the clinical scientist for assigned programs, providing expert medical and scientific judgment across clinical development.Ensure clinical trials are designed to ask the right scientific and clinical questions, aligned with disease biology, mechanism of action, and regulatory expectations.Review, approve, and provide strategic input on clinical trial protocols, SAPs, amendments, and study designs developed by CROs and medical writers.Apply deep understanding of protocol design, even though this role is not the primary author of protocols.Medical Monitoring & Safety AccountabilityServe as Medical Monitor for assigned studies, retaining accountability for patient safety.Review and interpret safety data, including adverse events, serious adverse events, safety labs, dose-limiting toxicities, and emerging safety signals.Partner with CRO safety teams and study sites to ensure timely signal detection, escalation, and appropriate clinical action.Provide clinical guidance on risk mitigation, dose decisions, and safety precautions throughout the conduct of trials.CRO & External InterfaceAct as the primary clinical point of contact for CRO medical monitors, safety teams, and medical writers.Oversee CRO-generated clinical deliverables to ensure medical accuracy, consistency, and alignment with clinical intent.Guide the clinical content of Investigator Brochures, including safety sections, precautions, and clinical rationale.Interface with investigators and clinical trial sites as needed from a clinical science and medical perspective.Cross-Functional Collaboration (Clinical Scope)Partner closely with Clinical Operations to ensure high-quality trial execution, with ClinicalDevelopment retaining accountability for scientific and medical decisions and Clinical Operations responsible for operational delivery.Collaborate with Biostatistics on clinical interpretation of endpoints and trial data.Provide clinical input to Regulatory Affairs for submissions, responses, and interactions with health authorities.Support the SVP, Clinical Development by sharing senior-level review responsibilities across protocols, SAPs, and emerging trial data.QualificationsMD or MD/PhD is required. Board certification in Dermatology, Rheumatology, Allergy/Immunology, or a related internal medicine specialty is highly preferred.8-12+ years of clinical development experience within the biopharmaceutical industry.Proven experience leading Phase 2 and/or Phase 3 programs; experience in immunology or inflammatory disease is a significant plus.Direct experience with IND/NDA/BLA submissions and successful interactions with health authorities.Deep understanding of GCP, ICH guidelines, and the medical monitoring of global clinical trials.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex medical data into clear strategic insights for internal and external stakeholders.Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor in a lean, fast-moving biotech environmentCollaborative mindset with the confidence to provide independent clinical judgmentCompensationThe salary range for this position is $315,000- $360,000 and the position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and/or equity-linked compensation. Salary ranges are determined by role, level and location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
