Senior Metallurgist / Materials Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day This role will work to set the trajectory for the materials research and development department within the compression business. Learning and advancing the metallurgical state of the art within Siemens Energy, developing future technologies, sharing existing knowledge and best practices for material selection, manufacturing, corrosion prediction, and failure analysis. Serve as a technical lead for both internal and external discussions. Participate as a representative in industry technical committees. Daily work will involve solving material related challenges for new equipment, aftermarket, procurement, manufacturing, and engineering departments. A drive to improve existing technologies while leveraging historical experience is critical for this role to thrive. How You'll Make an Impact Develop and execute the materials technical roadmap to support business growth ensuring future readiness and skill development within the expert community. Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and R&D to create innovative, high-performance products to support the compression business. Serve as the key contact for management regarding technical topics within the Materials Engineering community. Engage in external conferences and publish insights, while maintaining global technical responsibility in the community. Enhancing reliability and performance of rotating and pressure containing equipment. What You Bring Bachelor's or master's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in metallurgy or a Senior Metallurgist with demonstrated expertise in high-strength low alloy steel, stainless steel, and nickel-based alloys. Must possess strong knowledge in material selection, corrosion protection, surface coatings, non-metallic sealing materials, and failure analysis. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level. Ability to foster collaboration across product lines and research and development groups to drive innovative product development. Challenge the status quo by pushing technology forward and preparing for future operational tasks. Maintain connections with experts and clients in the Materials Engineering communities to enhance interdisciplinary understanding and create connections between topics. The base salary range for this position based in Painted Post, New York is $118,000-$220,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
