Drafting technician

job summary: A Drafting Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Painted Post, NY area. This job is for a highly experienced CAD professional responsible for creating and maintaining complex 3D models and 2D drawings while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure technical accuracy and process efficiency. location: Painted Post, New York job type: Contract salary: $36.49 - 51.08 per hour work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Associates responsibilities: Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks. Perform redline corrections based on input from engineering, manufacturing, and field teams. Manage the release of drawings, models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) through EPDM. Develop conceptual 3D models during the early phases of design. Ensure all work complies with drafting standards, design requirements, and document control procedures. Recommend improvements for internal processes. Meet project deadlines while maintaining strict confidentiality. Required Qualifications: Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. 5+ years of professional drafting or design experience. Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and EPDM software. strong ability to read, interpret, and manipulate complex models and drawings. General understanding of mechanical design principles. Working knowledge of industry-standard drafting and design protocols. Ability to solve complex problems and work independently with limited supervision. Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of relevant drafting or design experience. Hands-on experience or technical knowledge of welding and fabrication.
