Title: Drafting / CAD Technician III Pay Rate Range: $40.00 - $50.00/hour (DOE) Employment Type: Contract - 12 months Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (40 hours/week) Location: Corning, NY - 100% Onsite (Local Candidates Only) Job Code: CRNGJP00029123 Job Overview Tekberry is seeking an experienced Drafting / CAD Technician III to support mechanical and architectural design initiatives for our client, a global leader in advanced optical manufacturing technologies. This role is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining 3D models and detailed technical drawings that support engineering and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate brings advanced SolidWorks expertise, strong drafting standards knowledge, and the ability to work independently on complex assignments. This position collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. Key Responsibilities: 3D Modeling & Drafting • Create and maintain complex 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks • Develop conceptual 3D models during early design phases • Apply advanced drafting standards and mechanical design principles • Ensure accuracy and completeness of design documentation Drawing & Document Control • Perform redline corrections based on input from engineering, manufacturing, and field teams • Release drawings, models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) through EPDM • Maintain compliance with document control procedures and design standards • Protect confidentiality of proprietary designs and project information Collaboration & Process Improvement • Work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams • Resolve complex drafting and modeling issues independently • Recommend drafting or process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality • Meet project deadlines while managing multiple priorities Required Qualifications: • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (Required) • 5+ years of drafting or mechanical design experience • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and EPDM • Strong ability to read, interpret, and modify complex models and technical drawings • Working knowledge of mechanical design principles • Understanding of drafting standards and documentation practices • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications • 7+ years of relevant drafting or design experience • Welding and fabrication knowledge or hands-on experience • Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas during early design phases • Experience supporting manufacturing environments Work Environment • 100% onsite • Office-based CAD environment supporting engineering and manufacturing • No travel required • Independent project-based work with cross-functional collaboration Why Tekberry We need hard-working, reliable employees.
