Job Summary:The Industrial Safety Coordinator (Steel Fabrication) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role supports incident-free operations by enforcing regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices within a steel fabrication environment.Key Responsibilities:Safety Program Development & ImplementationDevelop, update, and enforce workplace safety policies and proceduresMaintain and update the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirementsSafety Inspections & AuditsConduct regular site inspections to identify hazardsMaintain detailed records of inspections and corrective actionsFollow up with foremen and employees to ensure timely hazard correctionMaintain and manage safety audits using iAuditorAccident Prevention & InvestigationInvestigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causesPrepare reports and recommend corrective and preventive measuresAccompany injured employees to medical facilities when neededConduct substance testing in accordance with company policyTraining & Safety AwarenessLead and conduct safety training sessions for employeesProvide operator training for forklifts and overhead cranesEnsure employees understand PPE requirements and emergency proceduresHazard Control & Risk ManagementPerform pre-task analyses and risk assessmentsIdentify workplace risks and implement preventive measuresMonitor use of PPE and enforce safety signage complianceEmergency PreparednessDevelop and maintain emergency response plans and evacuation proceduresCoordinate fire drills, spill drills, and other emergency simulationsCompliance Monitoring & DocumentationEnsure all certifications, permits, and records are currentMonitor regulatory updates and adjust safety programs accordinglyMaintain logs of inspections, incidents, and safety meetingsProvide regular safety performance reports to managementSafety Communication & LeadershipAct as liaison between management, employees, and regulatory agenciesProvide daily updates to management on safety performance and improvementsPromote a proactive, safety-first culture across the organizationLead by example in all safety-related practicesContinuous ImprovementAnalyze safety data to identify trends and recurring issuesRecommend and implement improvements to safety systems and processesCore Competencies:Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and influence othersTeam-oriented with strong collaboration, conflict resolution, and organizational skillsCritical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesWorking knowledge of steel fabrication equipment, rigging, and industrial operationsIn-depth knowledge of Cal-OSHA safety standards and regulationsProficient with computer systems and safety documentation toolsResults-driven with a strong focus on safety performanceRequired Certifications & Training:OSHA 30 CertificationCurrent Forklift CertificationCurrent First Aid/CPR CertificationCurrent Aerial Lift CertificationReasonable Suspicion TrainingRespiratory/Fit Test TrainingHazardous Material Communication TrainingQualified Rigger CertificationHarassment Prevention TrainingTrain-the-Trainer Certifications in:ForkliftAerial LiftOverhead CraneRespiratory Fit TestingPreferred Qualifications:OSHA 510 CertificationWork Environment: This role operates in a steel fabrication and industrial setting with exposure to heavy machinery, tools, and active production areas.
