Our focus is to provide a strong clinical experience for our externs that integrates the development of clinical competence and ethical practice with professional growth and development in a supportive environment. Externs will be exposed to a full range of clinical services, therapeutic perspectives, and interdisciplinary skills within a University Counseling Center. While clients we serve may request to engage in services via telehealth, externs will only provide telehealth services while working on-site, as interns will not be able to provide clinical services while off-site.Additional InformationApplicants are carefully selected based on their prior clinical experience, strong recommendations from their home program and/or previous practicum supervisors, and an in-person interview with the dedicated staff at Student Counseling Services. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.2. Successful completion of at least one doctoral-level therapy practicum prior to the start date.Work HoursThe office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Wednesday 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Practicum students are expected to work 17-20 hours across 2-3 days per week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are mandatory.Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: 1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods2.
