Packsize OperatorSummary of PositionThe Packsize Operator is responsible for setting up and operating assigned packaging machines and statistical scales to pack the optimum number of quality packages of product. The "Packsize" is a machine that produces the exact amount of packing material needed for a certain component. The ideal candidate will be familiar with basic computer skills. The most important ability for a packaging machine operator is mechanical skills, such as reading a tape measure. Additionally, it is important that machine operators exhibit physical strength and stamina. Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesProduces wood cabinetry parts from raw material by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Machine Operators are responsible for highly repetitive types of short cycle machine operations associated with quantity production machining, cutting, and banding laminating products to specified tolerances. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCheck labels to match cabinets color, size, skins, etc.Maintain stable work pace.Serve as quality control by reporting all deficiencies.Be able to operate a Packsize machine and forklift.Alternate between operating a Packsize machine and palletizing components for shipping.Monitor packaging supplies to ensure an adequate amount is available for the shift.Set up equipment as needed.Minimum QualificationsAbility to lift up to 75 pounds.Ability to measure to 1/16 of an inch on a tape measure.Warehouse experience (forklift certification not required).CommentsThis job description in no way states or implies these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
