Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) | Newport, New Hampshire

An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Medical-Surgical experience to support a specialized hematology/oncology unit on a contract basis. This role involves working within a 24-bed unit focused on Hematology/Oncology/Gynecologic Oncology and medical-surgical care, alongside a 9-bed area dedicated to Hematology and Cellular Therapy. The position requires expertise in administering chemotherapy, managing treatment side effects, and caring for patients receiving radiation therapy and radioisotopes. Common diagnoses encountered include lymphoma, leukemia, and ovarian cancers. Responsibilities: Administer chemotherapy and monitor patient responses. Manage side effects of cancer treatment protocols. Care for patients receiving radiation therapy and radioisotopes. Maintain and manage central lines, including blood draws. Provide care for complex wounds and post-surgical lines, tubes, and drains. Care for patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies. Monitor telemetry and manage chest tubes. Administer IV drips such as diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone. Preferred Experience: Skilled in the care of chest tubes, lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients. Experience with tracheostomy and laryngectomy care. Proficient with telemetry monitoring and complex wound management. Familiarity with central line care, maintenance, and blood draws. Comfortable handling drips including diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone.
