Job Summary: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. This includes performing various respiratory treatments, managing ventilators, and assessing patients' respiratory status in critical care, emergency department, and long-term care settings. The role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to troubleshoot equipment, and effective communication within an interdisciplinary team.Location:Newark, New York, United StatesResponsibilities: - Perform adult critical care respiratory treatments. - Manage patients in the Emergency Department requiring respiratory support. - Assist with and perform intubation and extubation procedures. - Place and manage nasal and oral airways. - Perform oral and nasal suctioning, including ETT and NT suctioning. - Collect sputum specimens. - Provide tracheostomy care and management. - Administer respiratory therapies via handheld nebulizer, T-piece, and trach collar. - Manage patients on bag and mask ventilation, ET tubes, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC). - Manage patients on BiPAP and CPAP. - Troubleshoot high-pressure alarms on ventilators. - Wean patients from mechanical ventilation. - Perform ABG sampling. - Manage ventilators and assess patients' respiratory status. - Administer medications and perform pulmonary hygiene. - Float between Eastern region hospitals (Long term care to Acute care) as needed.Required Skills & Certifications: - Active Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. - Active license in hand. - Minimum of 1 year of experience. - Adult Critical Care experience. - Emergency Department experience. - Experience with Extubation and Intubation Assist. - Experience with Nasal/Oral airway placement and suctioning. - Experience with Sputum specimen collection. - Experience with Suctioning (ETT, NT). - Experience with Tracheostomy care/management. - Experience with Hand held, T-piece, Trach collar, Bag and mask, ET Tube, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), T-piece, Trach collar, BiPAP, CPAP. - Experience with Troubleshooting high pressure alarms. - Experience with Weaning from mechanical ventilation. - Long term care experience. - ABG Sampling skills. - Ventilator Management skills. - Patient Assessment Skills. - Medication Administration skills. - Pulmonary Hygiene skills.Preferred Skills & Certifications: - N/ASpecial Considerations: - Must have a personal car for travel between facilities in the Eastern region. - Floating between long-term care and acute care facilities is required. - Weekend coverage is required.Scheduling: - Night shift: 18:30 PM - 07:00 AM. - 13-week contract. - Every other weekend coverage (6 weekend shifts per contract).
