Security Officer - Security Office

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network is a 404 bed fully accredited community-based teaching hospital and Level I Trauma and Stroke Center. We provide general medical, pediatric, and psychiatric emergency services, ambulatory care on and off-campus, ambulatory surgery, and a broad spectrum of diagnostic and treatment services. We are currently seeking experienced licensed Security Officers for full-time day, evening, and night, shift opportunities. Under the direction of the Security Director, selected Security Officers will perform a variety of security and safety-related functions while involved in the safeguard of employees, patients, visitors, and property as outlined in the JHMC policy manual. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for maintaining a safe environment for hospital patients, staff, and visitors Actively monitoring and surveilling persons entering hospital facilities and controlling access to sensitive areas. Assisting management in enforcing safety regulations. Maintaining visit front desk sign-in roster. Documenting and maintaining incident log reports Utilizing verbal techniques to deescalate crisis situations. Conducting building and grounds surveillance activities to detect and report safety violations. Enforcing access control policy. Tagged as: guard, security Requirements Minimum High School/GED. Must have 8 and 16 hr. certifications, fireguard certification within 6 months of hire. Excellent communication and people skills are required. Must have valid NY State Driver's License Must be flexible to work any shift SALARY: $26.50/hr.
