Our client is a leading renewable energy developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across the United States. With a significant and growing pipeline of solar and storage assets, operates as an integrated platform spanning development, project finance, construction, and asset management.The RoleThe Real Estate Attorney to support the development and execution of its utility-scale renewable energy portfolio. This role will sit at the centre of project execution, leading all land, site control, and real estate matters across a multi-GW development pipeline. You will work closely with development, origination, project finance, and construction teams to ensure projects are fully site-controlled, de-risked, and positioned for financing and construction.This is a high-impact, front-line role where legal strategy directly influences whether projects reach NTP (Notice to Proceed).Key ResponsibilitiesSite Control & Land StrategyLead the structuring, drafting, and negotiation of site control agreements, including: Long-term land leases; Easements and rights of way; Option agreements and purchase agreements. Partner with development teams to design land acquisition and site control strategies aligned with project timelines and risk tolerance. Support portfolio-level land aggregation strategies across multiple jurisdictions. Title, Survey & Due DiligenceOversee and manage title and survey review processes, including: Identification and resolution of title defects; Coordination of title insurance and endorsements; Management of ALTA surveys Lead real estate diligence for project financings, tax equity transactions, and M&A processes. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are financeable and lender-ready. Development & Execution SupportWork cross-functionally with development, engineering, and permitting teams to resolve land-related constraints and risks. Support interconnection and transmission-related land matters, including easements and access rights. Advise on local land use, zoning, and permitting considerations impacting project viability. Transaction Support (Finance & M&A)Provide real estate support across: Project financings (debt and tax equity); Asset acquisitions and divestitures; Joint ventures and development partnerships Ensure land and real estate structures align with financing requirements and transaction structures.External Counsel & Process ManagementManage external real estate counsel across multiple states. Develop and standardise internal templates, playbooks, and processes to improve speed and consistency of execution. Drive efficient management of legal spend and timelines. Candidate Profile5-12+ years of experience in real estate law, ideally with exposure to energy or infrastructure projects.Background from a top-tier law firm and/or in-house at a renewable energy developer, IPP, or infrastructure platform. Strong experience with: Land leases, easements, and site control agreements; Title and survey review (ALTA, title insurance, curative work); Real estate diligence in financings and transactions. Experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, or storage) strongly preferred. Commercial mindset with the ability to operate as a true partner to development teams. Ability to manage multiple projects across different states and timelines.
