About the OpportunityExpress Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for an Assistant Property Manager on behalf of a well-established property management organization overseeing affordable housing, older adult housing, assisted living communities, and mixed-use residential properties throughout New York City.This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and customer-focused professional looking to grow within residential property management.Position DetailsPosition: Assistant Property ManagerSalary: $70,000 annuallyLocation: Brooklyn, NYSchedule: Full-TimeReports To: Portfolio ManagerPosition SummaryThe Assistant Property Manager is a member of the management team responsible for overseeing approximately 2,400 residential units, including affordable housing communities, older adult housing/assisted living facilities, and scattered-site residential and retail properties throughout New York City.This role supports the overall maintenance, operations, tenant relations, and administrative functions of the assigned portfolio while serving as a liaison between residents and management.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTenant Relations & EngagementDeliver high-quality customer service to residents across the portfolio.Communicate professionally with residents to address questions and concerns in a timely manner.Maintain consistent communication with residents regarding building updates, emergencies, and service disruptions.Ensure timely completion of annual recertifications.Refer residents to supportive services or benefit programs as needed.Maintain accurate and organized tenant files.Coordinate lease renewals and ensure timely collection of required documentation.Follow up on rent arrears and coordinate with legal and collections teams when necessary.Building OperationsAssist in ensuring properties operate within approved budgets.Approve invoices under designated spending limits.In senior housing properties, assist with rent collection when required.Coordinate maintenance requests and assign work orders in partnership with building maintenance staff.Oversee apartment turnover processes to ensure vacant units are prepared for occupancy promptly.Conduct move-in and move-out inspections with residents.Coordinate resolution of violations, repair issues, and maintenance concerns.Review and submit purchase orders for building supplies and equipment.Identify tenancy issues requiring legal review and coordinate with the appropriate departments.Maintain communication with management and compliance teams during emergencies.Occasionally respond to urgent building matters outside normal business hours.Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications & CompetenciesMinimum 1 year of property management experience required.Affordable housing experience preferred.Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.Detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with residents, vendors, and staff.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.Experience with Yardi or similar property management software preferred.LIHTC certification required within six months of hire.Certified Housing Assistant Manager (CHAM) certification preferred.EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.Equal Employment OpportunityThe company is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities and for sincerely held religious beliefs in accordance with applicable laws.
