While this role will be listed through David's hiring channels, the Associate Application Scientist will operate exclusively within Epogee's team, leadership, and mission. Role:The Associate Application Scientist will sit within Epogee's R&D team and play a key role in both benchtop chemical synthesis and food application development for esterified propoxylated glycerol (EPG). This is a hands-on laboratory role. The majority of your time will be spent synthesizing, formulating, testing, troubleshooting, and refining EPG and related products. You will help drive early-stage innovation at the benchtop level-from synthesizing new variants of EPG to prototyping novel food products and evaluating ingredient interactions across a range of food applications. Responsibilities: Support laboratory-scale synthesis of EPG (~50%) * Conduct lab-scale synthesis reactions such as esterification and distillation * Execute and refine experimental protocols for EPG production and modification * Explore new molecular structures and synthesis approaches to improve functionality and performance of EPG * Document experimental results and contribute to ongoing process development Develop benchtop food applications (~50%) * Formulate and prototype new food products using EPG * Evaluate ingredient functionality across various food systems * Conduct organoleptic evaluation, stability testing, and shelf-life testing * Troubleshoot formulations and iterate quickly to optimize performance Maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment * Uphold strict laboratory safety standards and protocols * Maintain organized documentation, materials, and experimental records * Contribute to a culture of safety and operational excellence within the lab Operate effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment * Manage multiple experimental work streams simultaneously * Adapt quickly as research priorities evolve * Maintain strong organization and clear differentiation between projects
