The successful candidate will:Conduct cardiac monitoring on the adult populationPerforms phlebotomyPractices effective Infection Control measuresPerforms direct nursing care activity as delegatedPerforms indirect nursing care activities as determined by routine assignment and unit activityDemonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development in the delivery of care to patientsResponds to the changing needs of patient care areasUse problem-solving in meeting patient care and unit needsMaintains a safe and efficient work environmentObtains, records, and exchanges information on behalf of the patientUses ethical principles to guide decisions and actions consistent with UHB's operating goals and objectivesRespect and promote Patients' RightsFosters/maintains positive public relations with patients, families, visitors, and staffCommunicates effectively with customers, visitors, patients, and staffRepresents the hospital positively by demonstrating respect and courtesy to all patients, colleagues, staff, and visitorsParticipates in Quality Improvement and contributes to process improvement activitiesTakes an active role in managing resourcesPlans appropriately to meet departmental objectives and takes initiatives where necessaryParticipates in activities to promote and foster team spirit and boost unit moraleUtilizes effective skills in communicating with members of the health care teamTakes an active role in personal/professional developmentOther duties and responsibilities as requiredRequired Qualifications: Successful completion of training course(s) and/or certificate for electrocardiography (EKG) or electrocardiograph (ECG), and PhlebotomyHigh school diploma or its educational equivalentBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Associate (AHA)Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, training and education to the above.Preferred Qualifications: One year of full-time experience providing essential treatment and patient care under professional supervisionGraduate of a Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program and/or graduate of a Medical Assistant ProgramWork Schedule:Variable Days; Variable Hours (Full-Time)Salary Grade/Rank: SL-2Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualificationsExecutive Order:Pursuant to Executive Order 161, no State entity, as defined by the Executive Order, is permitted to ask, or mandate, in any form, that an applicant for employment provide his or her current compensation, or any prior compensation history, until such time as the applicant is extended a conditional offer of employment with compensation.
