5 Acres is a high-volume American restaurant in Rockefeller Center led by Chef Greg Baxtrom. Rooted in a Midwestern perspective, the restaurant focuses on approachable, seasonal food with an emphasis on quality sourcing, in-house preparation, and consistency at scale. The Culinary Director is responsible for the overall performance of the culinary operation. This role goes beyond day-to-day service, focusing on financial oversight, operational systems, team leadership, and long-term growth of the business. While the restaurant maintains a strong, established foundation and a loyal team, this position requires someone who can take ownership, bring structure, and drive continued improvement. The Culinary Director works closely with existing leadership, including the Executive Chef and General Manager, to ensure alignment across all areas of the operation. In addition to overseeing the core restaurant, this role is responsible for programming outside of the dining room, including catering, seasonal activations, pop-ups, and concession-style operations throughout Rockefeller Center. This is a hands-on leadership position with a strategic focus. Over time, the role is expected to evolve into a more administrative and systems-driven position, balancing kitchen presence with business management. The ideal candidate is a proven operator—someone who understands how to run a high-volume kitchen, manage costs, lead teams without drama, and make measurable improvements quickly.
