Learn more .The Opportunity Youth Services Activity Leaders are responsible for leading high-quality, developmentally appropriate afterschool programming for early childhood-aged children. They design and implement engaging activities that support early learning through creative play, arts, movement, and exploration, while fostering a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment. Activity Leaders serve as the primary classroom lead during afterschool hours and work closely with program staff to ensure smooth daily operations, positive behavior support, and meaningful learning experiences for all children.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about people and wants to be part of a mission-driven organization making a lasting impact in New York City.ResponsibilitiesPlan, lead, and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based activities aligned with early childhood best practicesDesign simple, engaging lesson plans that promote creativity, movement, social-emotional development, and early skill-buildingEstablish and maintain clear routines, expectations, and positive behavior guidance appropriate for young childrenSupervise children at all times, including during activities, snack, outdoor play, transitions, and tripsProvide guidance and direction to classroom support staff to manage classroom flow and student engagementFoster a warm, inclusive atmosphere of fun and learning and serve as a positive role modelCommunicate effectively with program leadership regarding classroom needs, student progress, and daily operationsEnsure a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment at all timesPromote positive character development, cooperation, and respectful behavior among all childrenWhat You'll BringMust be responsible, reliable and punctualMust have passion for the Greenwich House mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth developmentA genuine enthusiasm for working with early childhood aged children and supporting their social, emotional, and developmental growthAbility to support early learning through creative, play-based activities, including arts and crafts, games, movement, and social-emotional learningStrong communication and interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and staffExperience working with children ages 3-11 in a group settingHigh School Degree/Equivalent required. AA or BA in-progress preferredMust pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to fingerprinting, employment history, and criminal background checkMust complete mandatory DOH/OCFS training prior to employmentEmployment Details Department: Youth ServicesLocation: New York, NY 10012Schedule: 20 hours/week, Monday - Friday 2:00PM - 6:00 PM FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptEmployment Type: Part-TimeReports To: Director of Youth ServicesUnion Representation: Non-UnionSalary Range The expected base hourly rate for this position is $20 hourly.
