Job Description:
A position for an Associate Researcher (Lab Technician) is available in the Wagenblast Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY starting in July 2026. The Associate Researcher will work under the general supervision of Dr. Wagenblast and his team and will carry out cutting-edge research in human blood stem cells and leukemia biology. The Associate Researcher will contribute to the lab's ongoing research projects including single cell and spatial omics, assist with animal work (mice), and collaborate with other lab members. There is exciting potential for authorship in scientific papers and participation in conferences.The central question of the Wagenblast lab is to understand how a normal blood stem cell can become cancerous. We apply cutting-edge CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing approaches and single cell technology in human blood stem cells to model the pre-leukemic and leukemic phases of acute myeloid and lymphoblastic leukemia in vivo The goal is to uncover insights into the genetic, cellular, and developmental mechanisms of leukemia and to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities of the disease.The successful candidate has recently completed an undergraduate degree in Biology or a related discipline, should be willing to learn new techniques and make at least a2-year commitment.
