Position OverviewStar Children's Dress Company, a growing apparel company focused on producing fashionable yet affordable dresses, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Fashion Designer with 2 years of experience.This role supports the design and product development team in executing seasonal collections. The Assistant Fashion Designer will work under the direction of senior designers and contribute to design preparation, technical documentation, and sample development while gaining hands-on experience in fashion design.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist senior designers in the development of seasonal collections, including research on trends, colors, fabrics, and trims for apparelCreate and revise digital sketches and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator to support design communicationPrepare and maintain specification sheets, measurement charts, and basic construction details under the supervision of senior design staffSupport the sample development process by organizing fabrics, trims, and color standards for seasonal collectionsTrack sample progress and assist during fittings by recording comments and updating design documentation based on feedbackMaintain organized design archives, including fabric libraries, trim references, and seasonal recordsConduct market and competitor research within the categories to support design directionAssist in preparing presentation boards and materials for internal meetings and line reviewsCollaborate with production and merchandising teams to ensure design documentation is accurate and up to dateProvide administrative and project support to the design team, including maintaining calendars and development trackersQualificationsBachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field2 years of relevant experience in fashion design or product developmentProficiency in Adobe Illustrator; knowledge of Photoshop is a plusBasic understanding of garment construction, textiles, and design principlesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environmentStrong communication and time management skillsBenefitsHealth insurance and dental insurance eligibility beginning the first of the month after 60 days of employment (for full-time employees)401(k) plan eligibility for full-time employeesPaid time off, including vacation accrual and company-recognized holidaysWeekly payroll with direct deposit available after the third week of employmentFree full service Gym Access with locker rooms, showers, andCompensation commensurate with experience and aligned with industry standards.
