Job Description:
Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum * Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students receiving intense intervention services. * Provide differentiated instruction that addresses academic, functional, communication, and social-emotional skills. * Adapt general education curriculum and create modified instructional materials to meet students' unique needs. * Implement evidence-based instructional strategies to promote independence, mastery of functional skills, and postsecondary readiness. Classroom & Student Support * Establish a structured, supportive, and safe classroom environment that promotes student learning and positive behavior. * Teach and reinforce daily living skills, social interaction skills, and employability skills as appropriate. * Collect, analyze, and maintain student progress data to guide instruction and inform IEP goals. * Provide direct supervision and guidance to paraprofessionals and support staff in the classroom. Collaboration & Communication * Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, counselors, and other staff to support inclusive practices and student success. * Communicate effectively and regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home. * Participate actively in IEP meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions. * Coordinate with outside agencies and transition specialists to plan for postsecondary outcomes. Professional Responsibilities * Stay current with best practices, instructional strategies, and compliance requirements related to special education and intense interventions. * Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with state and federal guidelines. * Engage in ongoing professional learning and apply new strategies to improve student outcomes. * Model professionalism, patience, and empathy when working with students, families, and staff. Qualifications * Valid state teaching license with certification in Special Education (Intense Intervention or equivalent). * Experience working with students with significant disabilities preferred. * Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies, assistive technology, and behavioral interventions. * Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical guidelines. Physical & Environmental Requirements * Ability to lift, move, or assist students as needed. * Capacity to implement physical or behavioral supports in accordance with student plans. * Work may include supporting students in community or vocational settings.
