Store Security Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE: As a Store Security Specialist, you will play a crucial role in fostering a safe and secure shopping environment for both Associates and Customers. Your presence will help deter theft and fraud while providing visible, friendly service. Dressed in a Company-issued vest and required black attire, you will monitor store activities and implement security measures effectively. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensuring Safety: Prioritize safety by practicing safe behaviors and assisting Store Leadership in maintaining a secure shopping atmosphere. Visible Presence: Provide a strong customer service footprint by greeting Customers with a smile and maintaining eye contact, all while monitoring for potential safety issues. Emergency Readiness: Clear clutter to ensure safe egress to emergency exits and address any safety concerns promptly. Building Relationships: Deliver excellent customer service by actively engaging with Customers and addressing their inquiries with respect and courtesy. Foster a positive work environment by treating all Associates and Customers with dignity, recognizing contributions through Company recognition programs. Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to educate staff about Loss Prevention initiatives. Protecting Against Theft: Monitor store entrances, exits, and the sales floor for suspicious behaviors and gather insights to inform Store Leadership. Document theft indicators, leveraging intelligence to address shortage trends, and communicate effectively with Management. Follow company protocols for responding to theft incidents. Reducing Operational Loss: Promote awareness of effective loss prevention strategies among Associates and train them on checkout procedures. Observe compliance with checkout protocols to ensure secure transactions for both Customers and Staff. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred. One year of experience in retail supervision or relevant training is advantageous. Prior experience in loss prevention or security is desirable. An active Security Guard License is a plus. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong communication skills. A demonstrated record of building effective relationships within a team. Exceptional customer service capabilities. Ability to handle conflict resolution effectively. Compliance with all federal and state regulations for security positions, including background screenings and evaluations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regular attendance and punctuality are required. Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the store for extended periods. Ability to lift objects exceeding 25 lbs. and perform bending motions as needed. Specific job functions may require additional skills and qualifications.
