Nephrologist

A Nephrologist is a physician who studies and deals with nephrology. Nephrology is the adult and pediatric study of the kidneys and its diseases. The nephrologist deals with the diagnosis and management of kidney disease. The kidneys are vital for maintaining normal fluid and electrolyte balance in the body. A Nephrologist is responsible for providing medical services to Health Center patients in the field of Nephrology specialization, which the physician completed training in. The nephrologist is in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral. Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term kidney health care issues. Essential Duties: * The physician is responsible for the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with kidney problems. * This includes the ordering and following up of lab and other diagnostic tests. * This also includes the final disposition of the patient. * When appropriate, the physician will coordinate care with other members of the health care team and refer patients when necessary for further diagnostic work-up or treatment. * This includes hospital admission when warranted, as well as coordinating inpatient care. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: * One (1) to two (2) years experience in the field. * Graduate of an approved residency program. * Able to communicate effectively with staff and patients. * Graduate of an approved medical school. * Basic computer skills required. * NYS license to practice medicine and surgery. Board Certification or Board eligibility.
