RN Med Surg | Moundville, Alabama

Provide expert care on a specialized 42-bed Cardiac Medical Unit focused on Telemetry in Moundville, AL. This contract opportunity offers 36 to 48 hours per week with holiday shifts and every other weekend coverage required. The position demands flexibility as nurses must be willing to float to other units and hospitals within the system. The Cardiac Medical Unit cares primarily for patients with cardiac conditions such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, and various arrhythmias. You will also treat diverse medical cases including pneumonia, gastrointestinal issues, COPD, diabetes, occasional stroke, and surgical recovery. The nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:6, promoting attentive and high-quality patient-centered care with the aim to optimize recovery outcomes. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required Current Registered Nurse license in Alabama or compact license (temporary licenses not accepted) American Heart Association BLS certification or equivalent Red Cross certification Minimum 2 years nursing experience, or 18 months if recently licensed under highest professional level At least 1 year recent experience in cardiac telemetry or comparable specialty unit Ability and willingness to float across different units and hospital locations Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry care and manage a variety of acute medical and surgical patient needs Monitor cardiac rhythms and intervene promptly per clinical protocols Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans Maintain accurate clinical documentation and effectively communicate patient status to medical teams About Moundville, Alabama: Situated in the heart of Alabama's picturesque Black Belt region, Moundville offers a blend of historic charm and southern hospitality.
