SUMMARY A part-time recess-lunch supervisor position is available. Applicants must be able to work well with all children and multitask in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities Actively watch students on playgrounds, in cafeterias, and during indoor recess to ensure safety and prevent issues. Promote positive behavior, mediate conflicts, and address rule-breaking using school-approved methods (like PBIS), referring serious issues to teachers or administration. Organize and lead group games, encourage participation, and ensure proper use of playground equipment. Respond to minor injuries (basic first aid), report hazards, and help with orderly transitions (e.g., back to class). Effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents about concerns or issues. Assist with lunchroom clean-up and other tasks as directed by administrators. DAYS/HOURS 10:30 am - 12:30 pm part-time, school-year position PAY RATE Hourly wage of $14.58, hired through EduStaffREPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThe paraprofessional reports to the building principal and assists in coordinating and supervising student activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to supervise visually and maintain calm under pressure. Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Patience, sound judgment, and ability to work with minimal direction. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and move around the playground. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises students under teaching staff direction.Carries out responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Previous experience as a teacher aide for special needs children preferred Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos Demonstrated ability to work successfully with special needs students Good verbal, math and grammar skills LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITYApplying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment. Employee needs to be able to lift 30-40 pounds.
