For more information, visit us online at gcsu.edu. Job Summary The Montessori Academy Student Assistants will serve in our afterschool program as afternoon teachers. They will serve children aged 6 weeks-5 years old. They will work collaboratively with the morning staff to ensure that children have a safe environment in the afternoons. Responsibilities Attend to the needs of Children 6weeks-5years - 90% Afternoon teachers will provide a safe and nurturing environment for social and academic growth. Attend children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers. Assist with activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling and outside play. Communication - 5% Communicate with the morning staff and the afternoon staff to create an environment that enriching for all children. Health and Safety - 5% Be aware of our safety procedures and implement cleanliness policies as they pertain to the age group you serve. Required Qualifications Other Required Qualifications Current enrollment as a student at the institution; at least half-time status, which is 6 credit hours Ability to work a flexible schedule around class commitments Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications CPR and First Aid certification Preferred Experience Babysitting experience or some related experience working with young children.
