Job Title: Special Education Coordinator / Educational Diagnostician Reports to: Director of Special Education Date Revised: July 2023Primary Purpose:Implement the special education evaluation process. Coordinate Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee (ARDC) / Individualized Education Plan Committee (IEPC) meetings. Provide guidance and support to assigned districts regarding compliance matters in accordance with co-op, district, state and federal guidelines.Qualifications:Education / CertificationMaster's degree from accredited universityCertified Educational Diagnostician or Licensed Specialist in School PsychologySpecial Knowledge / SkillsKnowledge of special education evaluation procedures, including cross-battery evaluationKnowledge of the ARDC / IEP processKnowledge of federal, state and local special education policiesAbility to develop and deliver training to adult professionalsStrong organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsExperienceThree years of experience in work related to the field preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Assessments, ARDC Meetings and ServicesUpon receiving referrals, review documentation to ensure necessary data have been provided and collect and organize relevant data. Implement the special education evaluation process.Schedule ARDC meetings two weeks in advance of annual due dates.Coordinate ARDC / IEPC information to assist with the interpretation of evaluation data, appropriate placement and development of plans for students in accordance with co-op, district, state and federal guidelines.Complete ARDC / IEPC paperwork within two school days of meetings.Assume responsibility for maintaining accurate records in accordance with co-op, district, state and federal guidelines.SupportEncourage and support development and implementation of special education programs.Recommend program changes, when appropriate, in accordance with co-op, district, state and federal guidelines.Consult with and assist district personnel relating to special education topics.Develop and deliver training to district personnel.Professional Growth and Development Pursue activities for continuous improvement and growth in knowledge of field.Other Maintain confidentiality in accordance with co-op, district, state and federal guidelines. Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students, parents and co-op and district personnel while understanding varying co-op and district climates. Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the special education coordinator team, making recommendations to the SpEd Director. Follow the dress code.
