Job Description: In support of SUNY Orange's workforce development strategy, SUNY Orange Plus supports the creation of high-impact workforce training opportunities that respond to regional employer needs and strengthen career pathways in high-demand fields. We are currently seeking a qualified Non-Credit Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) Training Instructor to support workforce training programs preparing students for CASAC certification and related entry-level roles in behavioral health and substance use disorder services. This is a part-time position, not to exceed 29 hours per week, requiring day, evening, and/or weekend availability. The position is located at the Middletown campus, with travel between the Newburgh and Middletown campuses as necessary. Requirements: Education/Credentials Required: * Active, current CASAC credential issued by NYS OASAS, in good standing. * Eligibility to teach OASAS-approved CASAC curriculum hours in alignment with NYS credentialing requirements. Experience Required: * Minimum of two (2) years of recent, relevant teaching/training delivery in substance use disorder counseling, behavioral health, or addiction treatment services. * Clinical experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, aligned with the OASAS 350-hour certificate curriculum. * Knowledge of OASAS regulations, ethical standards, confidentiality requirements (HIPAA), and evidence-based practices in addiction treatment. * Ability to effectively instruct adult learners in a classroom and/or hybrid training environment. * Strong understanding of entry-level competencies required for substance use disorder counseling and recovery-oriented services. * Experience supporting students pursuing credentialing, certification, or workforce placement. Preferred Qualifications: * Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience (academic, workforce, or clinical). * Experience preparing students for CASAC credentialing and navigating OASAS education and training requirements. * Strong communication, facilitation, and classroom management skills. * Commitment to workforce equity, access, and student success.
