Job Description:
This role supports cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing the lab and expertly operating critical equipment such as fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition systems. The technologist ensures accurate documentation of patient data and hemodynamic measurements while maintaining strict aseptic technique to promote patient safety. Serving as the radiation safety representative during X-ray use, this position collaborates closely with the medical team to optimize patient care and procedural efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain catheterization lab equipment for all procedures, ensuring proper functioning and quality control compliance. Document patient information, procedure details, and hemodynamic data accurately. Assist physicians by operating imaging (X-Ray, IVUS, ICE), contrast injectors, and other specialized cath lab equipment. Uphold aseptic technique rigorously and intervene immediately if breaks in sterile technique occur. Act as the radiation safety representative during all X-ray procedures, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Participate in stocking supplies, daily room checks, and patient transport as needed. Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and maintain departmental efficiency. Adhere to organizational policies regarding patient safety, privacy, infection control, and documentation. Demonstrate leadership by supporting unit-based councils and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technology program, associate degree in healthcare, or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred. 0-1 year of acute care experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (AHA only). Preferred certifications include RCIS, RCES, RCS by CCI or Radiography/Interventional Radiography credentials by ARRT; State licensure (RRT or FUS) required in New Mexico. Commitment to continuous learning and proficiency in specialized cath lab technologies. Schedule & Location: Full-time contract position: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts. Call required every other weekend from Friday 4 PM to Monday 5:59 AM.
