Job Description:
SCHEDULE: 8 Hours QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a current online application on file with the Corporation, High school diploma; A.S.E. certification preferred with a minimum of three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, Background in diesel engine maintenance. Must possess a valid Indiana drivers license and/or willing to obtain a CDL-A license Able to operate all equipment currently in use in the transportation department, Computer literate to include the use of Microsoft office products, Proven experience in maintaining school buses, both chassis and body Knowledge of school bus standards and school bus inspection requirements, Must have a demonstrated positive work attitude and verifiable interactions with other employees, RESPONSIBILITIES: Review transportation repairs and assignments with the Director of Transportation, Keeps and maintains all related records for all preformed service and work, Models and practices safe work habits, Assist in the maintenance of parts and supply inventory, Assign bus repairs to the Class II mechanics, Monitor fuel levels in holding tanks and order fuel when necessary, Perform mandatory State monthly fuel tank leakage reports, Performs inspections per Indiana State Police guidelines for vehicles licensed to transport students, Assists other mechanics and maintains a harmonious relationship with drivers and other corporation employees, Performs system repairs on brakes, transmissions, electric systems, cooling systems, and carburetion systems on all vehicles normally maintained by the transportation department, Completes appropriate work orders for transportation building(s) maintenance, Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for school bus fleet and notifies drivers of scheduled maintenance needs, Work with the Director of Transportation in the development of topics for the yearly driver orientation meeting, Records and file bus maintenance work orders in a timely manner, Other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
