H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural/engineering/environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks a Survey Crew Chief. They will be responsible for selecting and applying standard surveying techniques in the field and office to plan, organize, and execute land surveying projects.Job Responsibilities:Receive instructions on specific assignments, objectives and complex featuresPerforms a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects obtained by the companyBroad understanding and experience for operating surveying equipment, such as Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS RTK & Static ObservationsAccurately calculates and records field dataReviews job specifications and plans fieldwork methods and costsApply standard scientific/engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations of standard methods and techniques in the field and officeReview and download field dataPrepare field notes and draw sketches of existing site conditionsPrepare detailed daily job reports and discuss projects with supervisor on daily basisMaintain and troubleshoot complex instrumentationDrafting and editing of surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D.Perform other like duties as assignedEducation and Qualifications:Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of survey calculations, techniques and proceduresGood judgment and organizational skillsValid Driver's licenseAbility to stand, climb and walk continuously during an 8-hour periodAbility to perform strenuous work in a varying climate (heat and cold, etc)Must have good computer skills and be able to learn survey related softwareGood verbal and written communication skillsWorking knowledge of AutoCadThe hourly range for this role is $36 - $44.The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications - not related to any applicant's characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.
