Job Description:
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Virtualization Systems Administrator to support a federal customer in Tysons, VA. This role is part of a dynamic team responsible for design, implementation, operations, maintenance, and cybersecurity for large-scale, resilient hardware and virtualized infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience managing enterprise Windows environments, virtualization platforms, and physical security systems while ensuring compliance with Information Assurance standards. Clearance Requirement: • Active Secret clearance required; must be eligible for TS/SCI. Work Environment: • On-site in Tysons, VA with up to 25% CONUS and OCONUS travel. Responsibilities: • Monitor, maintain, and test physical security systems including Physical Access Control, CCTV, and PSIM. • Provide Tier 2 escalation support for IT systems, including troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues. • Configure and manage Windows operating systems, including installation and patching. • Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and perform IAVA updates for compliance. • Implement and maintain enterprise Windows Active Directory architectures. • Configure and maintain virtualization platforms including VMware and Citrix XenDesktop VDI. • Deploy and maintain storage platforms such as Dell EqualLogic and Dell Powervault. • Install, configure, and maintain SQL database engines and third-party applications. • Perform preventive maintenance including backups, error log reviews, and integrity checks. • Develop implementation plans, testing procedures, and technical documentation (SOPs and as-built diagrams). • Train system users and support personnel as needed. • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, or Associate's degree and 8+ years, or HS diploma and 10+ years; equivalent experience may be considered. • Active Secret clearance required with ability to obtain TS/SCI. • Minimum Security+ certification; CASP or CISSP preferred. • Experience with Windows Active Directory, patching, and vulnerability remediation. • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Citrix XenDesktop) and storage solutions. • Familiarity with networking concepts including VLANs and routing. • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. • Strong documentation, time management, and communication skills. Preferred: • Experience programming or administering Physical Access Control Systems. • Background managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale IT deployments. Compensation: • Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 (based on experience and education) • Benefits: Comprehensive package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), 20 days paid time off, 11 federal holidays, and sick leave
