Software Engineer - Cloud & Data with Security Clearance

We are seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure cloud-based applications and data systems operating in a classified environment. This role focuses on building scalable services, integrating AWS-native capabilities, and enabling mission-driven data access and processing across structured and unstructured datasets. The ideal candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals, cloud-native development experience, and the ability to translate mission needs into robust technical solutions across distributed systems. Duties & Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain secure web applications within a classified AWS C2S / JWICS environmentBuild and optimize search and data systems using Elasticsearch / AWS OpenSearch, including index design, query development, and performance tuningDevelop and maintain SQL and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch queries across structured and unstructured datasetsIntegrate AWS services including Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, EC2, Batch, EventBridge, IAM, DynamoDB, and container servicesDevelop serverless and event-driven architectures using AWS-native toolsBuild and deploy Docker-based containerized applications and imagesUse AWS CDK to define and deploy cloud infrastructure programmaticallyTransform and normalize data across formats including JSON, CSV, and XMLDevelop automation and scripting solutions using Python and Linux shell scriptingCollaborate with application developers to define and implement infrastructure and deployment requirementsMonitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance and deployment reliabilitySupport cloud security practices, including identity management (IAM roles) and vulnerability awarenessWork across multiple technical teams and organizational boundaries to deliver mission-focused capabilitiesTranslate mission needs into technical requirements and ensure alignment between solution design and operational objectivesCommunicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPrioritize engineering work based on mission impact and operational urgency Requirements:Experience in system administration and/or cloud software engineeringExperience building and maintaining secure web applications in AWS environmentsStrong experience with Elasticsearch or AWS OpenSearch, including indexing and query optimizationExperience writing and tuning complex queries using SQL and search query languagesExperience integrating AWS services such as Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, EC2, and related cloud-native servicesStrong programming experience in PythonExperience with Linux systems and shell scriptingExperience building and deploying Docker containersExperience working with distributed cloud systems and event-driven architecturesExperience transforming and processing data across multiple formats (JSON, CSV, XML)Experience using AWS CDK (required – not substitutable with Terraform or CloudFormation)Experience collaborating with developers to implement infrastructure and deployment solutions Preferred Qualifications:Experience with multiple cloud providers (AWS plus Azure or GCP)Experience with additional programming languages beyond Python (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Go)Experience with reverse engineering or analysis tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, JADX, or APKToolExperience implementing monitoring, observability, and automated deployment systemsFamiliarity with security vulnerability management and system hardening practices What we offer:Flexible time offFull medical coverage401(k) with company matchReferral bonusesPerformance bonusesLife insurance and disability coverageTuition and training reimbursement
