Mission StatementTo advance the health and wellbeing of our community with a compassionate and caring spirit.A Brief OverviewThe CST is a Certified Surgical Technologist, who performs various care activities including scrub duties and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety of the patients served. The CST provides assistance to professional staff and works under the direction of the registered nurse. The CST must be able to demonstrate growth and development knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.What you will doPrepares materials and equipment for cases as needed and assists physicians in all types of procedures as requiredAssists in transportation and preparation of patientsEnsures transport of specimens and other materials to appropriate areasMaintains unit supplies and equipment. Is familiar with all procedural equipment and supplies. Understands the proper use, storage and troubleshooting of equipment. Troubleshoots certain problems and reports malfunctions to appropriate personsChecks stock levels, restocks at least every shift, and cleans patient care areas and other areas of departmentAnswers the phone and directs calls to the appropriate persons. Utilizes hospital computer to carry out duties viewing data or other functions as appropriateUses sterile techniqueMaintains aseptic environment for patientsAssists professional personnel in the control of supplies and medicationsAssists with patient care activities in the pre/post procedure area as neededProvides or assists with basic care requirements treatments and proceduresShares knowledge and assists others when appropriate, including orientees and studentsUtilizes appropriate channels of communication and maintains confidentialityParticipates in performance improvement activities including OFI's, CQI teams, committees, and special projectsKeeps current on care center affairs and fulfills assigned care center responsibilitiesUtilizes resources such as staffing, supplies, and equipment in an effective and efficient mannerEducation QualificationsGraduate of accredited school of certified surgical technology Required orGraduate of an Accredited Nursing Program RequiredExperience QualificationsMinimum of one year relevant experience as a CST PreferredWork Environment:You will work in Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in the surgical center, collaborating closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care during surgical operations.Compensation:Hourly Range - $26.25-$39.38A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates-contact our recruiter for more information!Incentives:Eligible for evening/night, weekend shift incentive based on company policies and applicable job codes.
