Position Type: Custodial/Maintenance/Grounds Worker Date Posted: 1/26/2026 Location: Educational Service Center Closing Date: Until Filled District: Osseo Area Schools - ISD 279 Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to the community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by performing work associated with the care and maintenance of district buildings and grounds. Responsibilities and Tasks: Maintain two sheets of ice at the Ice Arena. Deliver excellent customer service to community members using the ice arena. Clean bathrooms and locker rooms. Maintain fields and landscapes (watering, mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, debris removal). Prepare and care for athletic play surfaces (natural and synthetic fields). Lay out and stripe athletic play fields. Clean up fence lines and rough areas; apply soil sterilant under wire. Plow snow and apply de-icer to pavement and walking surfaces. Replace thermostatic and flow traps in heating systems as required. Install and repair concrete and blacktop. Install and repair chain link fencing, irrigation systems, and athletic equipment. Perform routine maintenance and repair of equipment. Operate ice maintenance equipment. Clean up after events per district cleaning standards. Perform other comparable duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Valid Minnesota Driver's License. Obtain a Minnesota Specialist Boiler License within one year of hire. Obtain EPA Certified Pesticide Applicator License within one year of hire. High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer skills, including email communication. Heavy equipment operation. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety precautions. Operation of powered equipment (mowers, tractors, plow trucks, snow blowers, chain saws, etc.). Knowledge of ice rink maintenance. Grounds and equipment care and repair. Ability to train, direct, and evaluate staff. Effective response to student, staff, and community needs. Organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Maintain accurate/current records. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Climb scaffolding and use aerial lifts. Gas and arc welding. Care and maintenance of turf athletic fields. Minor repairs on motors and equipment. Operate tractors, trucks, loaders, seeders, spreaders, snow plows, etc. Install and maintain irrigation systems. Strong customer service and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: Work experience in commercial groundskeeping and/or ice arena operations. Salary & Benefits Pay: $22.36 - $31.71 per hour (DOE).
