The role of a General Merchandise Team Leader can provide you with theskills and experienceof: Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest first cultureon your teamRetail business fundamentalsincluding:department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns,pricingand promotions strategiesLeading a team by planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals, with alignment from your direct leader, all while driving process improvements and enhancing workload efficiency.Leading a team of hourly team members; including skills in interviewing, developing, coaching,evaluatingandretainingtalent.Coachingand traininghourly team members tobuilda team of hourly team memberswith direction from yourdirect leaderAs a General Merchandise Team Leader, no two daysare ever the same, but a typical daymost likelywillinclude the following responsibilities:Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement,including:merchandising, pricing,settingand updating merchandise salesfloor displays, sampling, promotions and price change.With guidance from your leader, educate your team on how operational procedures, such as setting up andorganizing merchandise, managing product stock levels, andmaintainingsales floor areas, affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.Help assess reporting toidentifygaps in GMprocesses andassistto develop a plan to resolve foryour direct leaderto review and approve.Be an expert of operations, accuracy,processand efficiency.With your directleader'sguidance,assistwith and lead the daily execution of tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.With your directleader’sguidance,assistand leadwith theprocesses ininventory accuracy,merchandiseset-up and maintenance,and pricing for all areas of the store.Assign daily tasks to TMs based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly business priorities set by your leader.Withyour direct leader’sguidance, helpestablishclear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations.Withyour directleader’sguidance, help with efficient delivery to our guests by leading pick,packand ship fulfillment workaccurately(if applicable)and assess reporting in fulfillment toidentifygaps andassistto develop a plan.Responsiblefor collaboratingwith all teams and leaders (including closing team) toidentifykey priorities and ensure the store is guestready in alignment with your leader’s direction.Stay informed about relevant trends and products to educate team members by relaying Target communications from available tools and resources during team connection moments.Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team, as directed by your immediate leader.Modela culture of executing all best practices as outlined with team onboarding and learning;helpclose skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnightshiftsand weekends).Support guest services such as back-up cashier, digital fulfillment processes whilemaintaininga compliance culture, including compliance with federal, state, and localadult beveragelaws.Demonstrateinclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creatingequitableexperiences.Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct,safetyand compliance; lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way.Lead anddemonstratea safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors,identifyingand correcting hazards, holding team accountable to following safety expectations,assistingwith incident response, and reporting/investigating injuriestimelyand accurately.Model the execution of physical security processesin order toenhance the instore security culture.Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store; including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices.
