By connecting with Pivot Group, you position yourself for roles that match your background and aspirations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive dimensional inspection of first article parts against engineering specifications.Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to identify critical features.Utilize precision measurement equipment, including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and various gauges.Verify material certifications, special process compliance, and finish requirements.Generate detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 or customer standards.Document all inspection results accurately, including non-conformances and deviations.Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve inspection discrepancies.Maintain and troubleshoot inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.Recommended QualificationsProficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.Expertise in operating a diverse range of precision measurement equipment, including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).Demonstrated experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and reporting (e.g., AS9102).Solid knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and quality control methodologies.Bonus QualificationsProficiency in CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation or programming.Advanced understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).Experience with 3D CAD software for model-based inspection.Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.Knowledge of metrology lab equipment calibration processes.Job Titles That Should ApplyFAI Inspector, First Piece Inspector, Initial Sample Inspector, Dimensional Inspector, Metrology Inspector, Quality Control Inspector, Quality Inspector, Quality Technician, Manufacturing Quality Inspector, Production Quality InspectorWhy Pivot GroupThe Pivot Group was founded by manufacturing professionals who've been on both sides of the hiring process.
