Laser Department Manager

Key ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day operations of the Laser Department on day shiftLead, develop, and supervise laser department personnel, including operators and programmersOversee production scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery and maximum machine utilizationProvide technical leadership and support for both 3-axis and 5-axis laser operationsTroubleshoot production, programming, and machine-related issues to minimize downtimeEnsure quality standards are maintained across all laser cutting operationsDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, throughput, scrap reduction, and process optimizationMonitor department KPIs and production metrics to improve performance and accountabilityCollaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teamsSupport quoting and feasibility reviews as needed for laser-related workMaintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment in compliance with company standardsAssist in training and mentoring team members on best practices, programming, and machine operationRequired QualificationsMinimum 3+ years of experience managing a laser department in a manufacturing environmentHands-on experience with both 3-axis and 5-axis laser machinesStrong working knowledge of Mitsubishi, Prima, and Mazak laser systemsPrevious leadership experience managing production teams in a laser-focused environmentProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointExperience using Cenit software for offline programmingStrong understanding of laser cutting processes, programming, tooling, setup, and production flowProven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and drive department performanceStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and organizational skillsPreferred BackgroundExperience working for a direct competitor or within a highly similar laser-focused manufacturing environment strongly preferredProven track record of improving laser department efficiency, output, and qualityExperience in high-volume, fast-paced production environments
