Swine Market Selection Technician

OBJECTIVE: Mark hog loads following directions from supervisor, will be responsible for marking 20-25 loads per week in the Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota region. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties as assigned) Has the ability to identify pigs at an ideal market weight and implement market strategies Can analyze information and make strategic decisions to maximize marketing opportunity Assist in the development, implementation and execution of marketing plans that optimize revenue Has a desire to work with people and pigs daily Coordinate and communicate with people effectively and efficiently Contribute to a positive team atmosphere Manage time efficiently Drives consistent execution of marketing strategies Provides high-level feedback on potential marketing opportunities utilizing insights from market research, industry trends, competitive intelligence Has ability to judge the weight of market swine and identify the largest animals in a population Be a goal orientated team player POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma. Associate's degree preferred. Experience: Market sized pig experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50-100 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move with occasional assistance from someone else Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Must be able to print and/or write legibly Work Environment: 5-6 hours in swine facilities with 270lb pigs and 2-3 hrs of travel a day from site to site. Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license is required and reliable transportation to get to and from work.
