Salary and Benefits: Annual Base Salary for newly appointed BPAs ranges from $49,739 to $89,518 annually, depending on grade level and duty location. Fully trained BPAs may be eligible for an additional 25% of base pay following the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with opportunities for advancement through various grade levels up to GS-12. Roles and Responsibilities: Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations. Prevent and apprehend undocumented individuals and smugglers at or near the borders. Conduct patrols and checks in various environments, using a range of government assets. Qualifications: To qualify for the GL-5 grade level, candidates must demonstrate: One year of general work experience exhibiting sound decision-making and composure under pressure, or A bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited institution, or A combination of relevant experience and education. For the GL-7 level, you need: One year of specialized work experience related to law enforcement or security, or A bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement, or A combination of relevant experience and education. Additional requirements include: U.S. Citizenship Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years Age restrictions may apply, so candidates should refer to specific guidelines.
