This role is critical to ensuring maximum equipment uptime, food safety compliance, and preventive maintenance excellence in a fast-paced, USDA-regulated protein manufacturing environment.The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with grinders, blenders, conveyors, packaging equipment, and sanitation-driven maintenance practices and understands the unique demands of maintaining equipment used in raw meat and ground beef production.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Leadership & ReliabilityLead all maintenance activities supporting meat grinding, raw processing, and packaging operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant equipment performanceOwn uptime and reliability for grinders, augers, mixers, conveyors, pumps, packaging lines, and supporting utilitiesDevelop, execute, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime during production and sanitation windowsTroubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures in high-speed production environmentsFood Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure all maintenance activities comply with USDA/FSIS, HACCP, GMP, and sanitation standards, particularly in areas supporting ground meat operationsPartner closely with Quality Assurance and Sanitation teams to ensure maintenance work does not compromise food safety or product integritySupport internal and external audits, inspections, and corrective actions related to maintenance and equipment sanitationTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead, train, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors and techniciansSet clear performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and build bench strength within the maintenance organizationCoordinate maintenance coverage to support multi-shift and weekend production schedulesPlanning, CMMS & Continuous ImprovementUtilize CMMS to plan, schedule, and track work orders, PM compliance, and parts usageManage spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets with a focus on cost control and uptime optimizationAnalyze downtime trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives across grinding and processing operationsSupport capital projects, equipment installations, line upgrades, and facility improvementsRequired Qualifications5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in meat, protein, or food manufacturing environmentsDirect experience supporting meat grinding or raw meat processing operations is requiredStrong working knowledge of USDA/FSIS regulations, HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation-driven maintenance practicesProven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting industrial meat processing equipmentHands-on leadership style with the ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, QA, and SanitationPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)Experience in high-volume ground beef or further-processing facilitiesCMMS implementation or optimization experienceBilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferredInterested in hearing more?
