Job Summary UK Healthcare is seeking a Cytology Medical Lab Technician. This position performs various technical, clerical and patient care duties that support the function of the Cytopathology Laboratory. This position also performs Cytology processing and clerical procedures with accuracy and reasonable speed. This includes decision making as to best method for making, staining, coverslipping and labeling specimens. Duties include: accurately using computer systems to print orders, inquire patient clinical information and/or accession all non-gynecological (which includes fna and core) specimens, organizes work so that several tasks can be performed simultaneously for efficiency, and keeps accurate log of cytology slides received, sent and/or returned to/from outside sources. This position also works to maintain a good relationship with all laboratory customers, answers the phone promptly and courteously and aids the caller in answering his/her questions, coordinates times and gathers required information for the scheduling of FNAs, and maintains supply inventory. Accurately files slides for later retrieval if necessary. Promptly pulls slides for requests or conferences. Performs or assists with projects or duties as assigned and approved by the supervisor and or director. Assists co-workers during peak periods or employee absences to maintain smooth and efficient operations. IMPORTANT: Resumes and CVs cannot be substituted for a completed application.
